A Fantastic Term of Learning and Fun!

What a hard-working and exciting term we’ve had! Our days have been filled with engaging activities, hands-on learning, and lots of fun.

In Art, we explored shading techniques, and the children produced some truly outstanding work. Their creativity and attention to detail have been amazing to see!

In Science, we experimented with materials by building dens using opaque materials. It was a fantastic way to understand how light interacts with different objects.

In Maths, we have been learning all about measurement. Our practical lessons were a hit, as we measured different items around the classroom and applied our learning in real-world contexts.

We celebrate our achievements and reflect on our Big Question: ‘What do you love and why?

As we head into the half-term break, don’t forget our TT Rockstars competition! Year Three and Year Four are going head-to-head, and the winning class will get to keep the trophy in their classroom. Keep practicing, and let’s see who will claim the top spot!

Roots and Routes

This week, 3Z had their second session of the Routes and Roots collaboration, and it was filled with adventure and creativity! The children took a trip to Adel Woods to meet the artists and start their exploration.

They began by wandering through the woods and choosing their favourite tree to sketch. After capturing the details of their tree, the students used natural materials like leaves, pebbles, and pine cones to create beautiful artwork on the forest floor—just like the famous artist Andy Goldsworthy!

Learning About Volcanoes!

In our geography lesson , we dived into the explosive world of volcanoes—how they form, their features, and different types. But we didn’t just learn about them—we became them!

Some of us erupted like active volcanoes, others stayed still as extinct ones, while the dormant volcanoes waited for their big moment. Acting them out made learning fun and unforgettable!

Mastering Division with Remainders!

This week in maths, we have been working hard on dividing two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers, including those with remainders. We spent a lot of time practising this skill to build our confidence and understanding.

To help us visualise the process, we used cubes in our last lesson. This hands-on approach made it easier to see how numbers are shared and what happens when there are leftovers. Everyone worked really well, and it was great to see so much progress!

We Made Mittens!

This week, we had so much fun making our very own mittens! We learned about the steps involved, practiced our fine motor skills, and let our creativity shine as we designed and decorated them. Everyone worked hard and made something special. Now we’re ready to stay warm in style!

Roots and Routes

This week, we started our art collaboration with the Balbir Singh Dance Company. We began with a movement session and an observational drawing session. The children loved it and created amazing human sculptures showing Ivan’s journey through the woods to the Ice Palace. They’re now excited for the next session!

Christmas Cheer in Our Classroom!

The excitement for Christmas is in full swing in our classroom! We’ve decorated the room with festive decorations, creating a warm and cheerful atmosphere. Our advent calendar is a big hit, and each day, two children get the chance to open a door and enjoy a treat.

We ended the week with plenty of Christmas music, including a fun music lesson that had everyone singing.
