The excitement for Christmas is in full swing in our classroom! We’ve decorated the room with festive decorations, creating a warm and cheerful atmosphere. Our advent calendar is a big hit, and each day, two children get the chance to open a door and enjoy a treat.
We ended the week with plenty of Christmas music, including a fun music lesson that had everyone singing.
Our school trip to Murton Park felt like stepping back in time! Dressed in tunics, we lived like Stone/Bronze Age villagers for the day, taking part in exciting activities.
As farmers, we ground wheat into flour and weaved fabric for clothing. Then, as hunter-gatherers, we wielded spears to “hunt” wild boar, wolves, and bears. We also made pottery, designing unique patterns on our beakers, and tried cave painting to tell stories like our ancient ancestors.
To finish the day, we gathered around a fire to hear a captivating Stone Age story. It was an unforgettable experience that brought history to life!
W had an amazing time at the theatre. We absolutely loved The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. The performance was incredible, and the magical world of Narnia really came to life. It was a fantastic experience that we’ll all remember!
This week, we stepped back in time to explore the creativity of the Stone Age—but with a modern twist! Just like early humans crafted clothes from animal skins, we created our own outfits using newspaper instead.
We had a fantastic week filled with lots of exciting activities. As part of Anti-Bullying Week, we all became professional rappers and worked hard on a rap song called Stop, which was about standing up to bullying. We also celebrated Odd Socks Day, which was a fun way to embrace and celebrate our differences.
We had an amazing lesson in RE, where we used our inquiry skills and worked collaboratively to write what we have learned so far about the creation story.
We had an exciting music workshop this week that truly inspired our creativity. Everyone contributed to crafting a beautiful poem, and the final result was simply amazing. It was a fantastic experience that showcased our teamwork and artistic talents!
What an amazing way to finish our week! We had our first ever school trip in year 3!
We journeyed back in time to the Stone Age and discovered the types of materials early humans might have used to create their first form of art, just like ancient cave paintings. We chose to work with chalk and charcoal, two tools our ancestors might have used, and together we drew a majestic wolf to symbolise our new identity as the Wolf Clan!
In our recent art lesson, we learned about “drowning a cave” using shading and layering.
Children explored how to create depth by using light and shadow. It was exciting to see their creativity!
