3Z take charge of the Hedgehog Tunnel

This half term, 3Z have been entrusted with the task of looking after the hedgehog tunnel. This involves replacing the paper each day, topping up the hedgehog food, replenishing the ink and checking for foot prints. Here is how the tunnel is set up:

The class must have set the tunnel up well because a hedgehog (and a moth!): very soon inspected the area:

A few nights later we filmed a hedgehog coming out of the tunnel:

We also had a fox checking things out:

And again, yesterday morning, another visit:

A Week Full of Exciting Experiences!

We’ve had a fantastic week full of amazing events and learning opportunities.

On Wednesday, we had our annual Sports Day at Leeds Beckett University. The children had a fantastic time competing and cheering each other on in such a great setting.

Then, on Thursday, during our DT lesson, we explored different types of food. The children tasted a variety of items and thought about their texture, appearance, and whether they were healthy or not. Everyone enjoyed trying something new, and of course, having a little treat too!

Well done to all the children for their enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the week!

Our Science and Art Adventures!

This week in class, we had a fun and exciting science lesson! We learned all about the different parts of a plant, like the roots, stem, leaves, and flowers. We also explored different types of soil and how each one helps plants grow in different ways.

One of the most interesting things we learned was how plants spread, or plant reproduction and dispersal. We found out that some plants grow from seeds, while others can grow from bulbs or cuttings. We also learned that seeds can travel in many ways—by wind, water, animals, or even by exploding!

In our art lesson, we got creative with something called Typograph. We used letters and words to design pictures, and it was so much fun seeing how everyone turned text into artwork.

It was a great week of science, creativity, and learning!

Roots and Routes

This week in Year 3 has been amazing! We had the wonderful opportunity to work with the Balbir Singh Company, where we became scientists! We made magical potions, experimenting with different ingredients to create our own unique mixes. It was so much fun!

We also got creative and made a tree by adding various materials, twisting paper, and painting it. The classroom looked fantastic with our tree on display!

Some of the children learned how to do beatboxing, and on Tuesday, we had the chance to showcase it to our parents. It was great to see everyone’s talent and hard work on display.

What a Week Back at School!

What an exciting first week back at school we’ve had! We kicked things off with a very special visit from Dermot O’Leary, the well-known author and presenter. It was such a brilliant experience to meet him in person and hear all about his books and what inspired him to start writing.

We also spent some time sharing all the fun things we did over the Easter holidays. It was great hearing everyone’s stories and seeing the smiles as we looked back at our adventures.

To top it all off, we had an amazing science lesson where we learned how plants absorb water. We even did a fun experiment using coloured water to watch how it travels up the stem—science really came to life right before our eyes!

It’s been a fantastic start to the new term, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.

A Fantastic End to the Half Term!

What a wonderful way to wrap up the half term! We’ve had such an exciting and inspiring week in the art studio, filled with colour, creativity, and collaboration.

On Friday, we celebrated all our hard work with an Art Celebration, and what a turnout it was! I was absolutely blown away by the children’s incredible dance performance and the stunning artwork they created. Every piece was a reflection of their talent, imagination, and enthusiasm. I’ll be uploading the video of the dance soon.

A special highlight of our week was on Wednesday when Sameer’s mum came into class. She taught us some brilliant dance moves, shared delicious food from her culture, and even did henna for almost every child. It was a truly magical experience that brought smiles to everyone’s faces and created memories we’ll cherish for a long time.

Art Fortnight

This week has started off wonderfully in Year 3! We kicked things off with an exciting Zoom meeting with an Icelandic tour guide, Dagur, all the way from Iceland. The children came prepared with lots of great questions, and Dagur shared some amazing facts about Iceland. We learned so much about this incredible country and its unique landscapes.

We have started our Art Fortnight, and we are working hard on creating beautiful art pieces that connect to our “Land of Fire and Ice” topic. The creativity in the class has been fantastic, and we can’t wait to see how all the projects turn out!

another fantastic week in year 3!

This week has been filled with exciting activities and celebrations. We also planted flowers generously gifted to us by Roots and Roots. We can’t wait to see them grow and bloom in the coming weeks!

In addition, we celebrated Nowruz this week, with many children coming in wearing fantastic traditional clothes. It was wonderful to celebrate the start of spring together as a class.

what a fantastic week we have had!

This week has been absolutely amazing! The highlight of our week was on Thursday when we had our Colour Run, which was so much fun and filled with energy. Right after that, we were lucky enough to have a live music band perform for us! It was a fantastic experience, especially for some of the children who had never seen a band play live before.

We also had a great time doing activities for our “Roots and Routes” project, which was both fun and educational.
